Top 20 Decluttering Tips 

We asked you for your top tips and here they are - with thanks to Ruth for collating them. 
  • De-clutter when in a bad mood or when feeling generous.
  • If it doesn’t look fabulous when you try it on, don’t buy it (Summer)
  • Find a friend who has more clutter than you, you’ll instantly feel less cluttered.(Niki)

  • Disguise it as art.
  • If you are saving it to do the gardening in, unless you have actually worn it to do the gardening, get rid! (Lydia)
  • Don’t look on it as de-cluttering, look on it as sharing. Have you used it in over a year? No? Then give it to the charity shop or an upcycling centre.
  • Move into your boyfriends house, he’d never tolerate any amount of girlie junk ( then gradually move more stuff in) (Hannah.)
  • De-clutter one drawer or cupboard per week.

  • Bring something new home, give something away.
  • If you have not worn something for a year, give it to a charity. (Helen)
  • Be brutal ;-)
  • Give it out as gifts next Christmas.
  • Blindfolds and binbags

  • If it doesn’t fit, ditch it! Make space for a new year and a new you ( and a new wardrobe that looks great)

  • Ask yourself- is it useful, beautiful? Do you really love it?
  • Tackle one side of the room before moving onto the other side. That way you’ll get inspiration even if it’s not all finished in one go!
  • One drawer at a time- can take just 5 minutes.
  • If you haven’t worn something in over a year- release it- set it free!
  • If you love part of something, save buttons to sew onto cuffs or lapels. A bit of pearly kings and queens style! (Jean)
  • If it doesn't fit in a cupboard, somethings got to go.
